Leadership Training for Coaches
Strengthen your leadership skills through a program designed for coaches, teachers, and mentors who guide youth in developing their leadership potential.
Program Overview
Developed by a multidisciplinary team, the Coach Program supports educators and mentors who work closely with youth through two complementary learning paths:
- Your own development: foundational leadership concepts you’ll explore and apply in your own coaching and mentoring practice.
- Your role as a guide: access to students’ submissions, reflection questions, and progress dashboards, allowing you to support youth as they move through the Leadership Now Youth Program.
This structure allows you to strengthen your leadership while confidently guiding young people in theirs.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
The program includes modules that mirror the themes in the Youth Program, each with background information, reflective exercises, and practical scenarios relevant to coaching.You’ll also have access to the youth modules and their activities, enabling you to review student work, encourage deeper reflection, and support growth.
Rather than a pass/fail system, the program focuses on practicing and embodying leadership in real situations.
TIME COMMITMENTS
Expect to dedicate at least 30 minutes per module, with the option to explore the concepts further through discussion or independent reflection.
RECOMMENDATIONS
While modules can be completed individually, the program is most impactful when explored collaboratively. Conversations with fellow coaches or with the youth you’re guiding help reinforce key themes and create a stronger, more supported learning experience.

The 7 Modules
The program includes seven core leadership modules:
TEAMWORK
This module helps participants understand the difference between simply being part of a group and truly functioning as a team. Through examples and activities, they learn how teamwork relies on communication, trust, and shared goals — and how each person’s contribution plays a vital role in collective success.
LEADERSHIP
In this module, participants explore what leadership really means and discover that it’s not just an innate talent, but a set of learnable skills. They identify key qualities of effective leaders and practice applying those skills in different settings — understanding that leadership is something they can continue to grow throughout life.
VALUES
Here, participants examine what values are, where they come from, and how they shape decisions and behaviour. They explore their own personal values and compare them with the values of organizations and communities, recognizing how clear values guide both leadership and teamwork.
POWER AND INFLUENCE
Participants examine the role of power and influence in leadership and team dynamics. They learn to recognize different types of power, understand their impact, and use influence ethically and effectively to build trust and achieve positive outcomes.
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
In this module, participants explore the importance of emotional intelligence — understanding their own emotions, managing reactions, and empathizing with others. Through reflection and activities, they see how emotional awareness strengthens relationships and enhances leadership.
DECISION-MAKING
This module introduces practical tools for making thoughtful, effective decisions. Participants explore how decisions vary — from quick, in-the-moment choices to long-term planning — and practice approaches to weighing options, considering consequences, and learning from outcomes.
BULLYING
This module addresses bullying as a real and harmful form of behaviour that can present in many ways — physical, verbal, social, or online. Participants learn to identify bullying, understand its impact, and develop strategies for prevention, intervention, and support, fostering leadership rooted in respect and empathy.
